Desire Lines

Anthology Film Archives Nov 15th, 7:30PM

Narrow Rooms, Transferno, and MIX NYC present a special screening of director Jules Rosskam’s arousing new hybrid documentary DESIRE LINES at Anthology Film Archives. Rosskam's incredible film explores the phenomenon of trans-masculine people who, after transitioning, find themselves developing an attraction to men, both cis and trans. For many, the advent of new desires requires time and adjustment to synthesize with their own self-concept of identity. Rosskam’s fantastic film seeks to reframe transmasculine sexuality via interviews with trans men of various experiences and rare archival footage of pioneering trans gay man Lou Sullivan. Most thrillingly, Rosskam also interweaves a semi-fictionalized narrative about an Iranian-American trans man searching for images of transmasculine history in an LGBTQ archive that has the magical ability to transport him into cruising spaces of the past, leading to some very hot scenes sure to stoke your own desires. A must-see for cis and trans gay men, Narrow Rooms is proud to co-present this landmark film with the organizers of TRANSFERNO, NYC’s only trans-masc-centered sex party, as well as our evening’s sponsors, MIX NYC, who will be presenting the return of MIX FEST, NYC’s long-running queer experimental film festival at the Quad Cinema, the week after the screening.

Stick around after the screening for a special Q&A with director Jules Rosskam and the TRANSFERNO team.
