FILM SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES

  1. Only 1/2” VHS (NTSC/PAL/Secam) videotapes or DVDs will be accepted for preview. Do not send master tapes or film prints for preview screening.
  2. Preview tapes must be labeled with the title, running time and contact information (including name, address and phone number).
  3. Works submitted in languages other than English must be subtitled or accompanied by an English transcript.
  4. Works-in-progress and rough cuts can be submitted, but only if a completed exhibition copy will be available by Oct. 14, 2010.
  5. MIX reserves the right to excerpt programmed works (up to three minutes) and photographic stills for television and other promotional purposes.
  6. Do not send submissions in fibre-filled envelopes. The dust damages videotapes and VCRs.

  8. All preview tapes will be added to the MIX archives unless accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope (for submissions from outside USA please use International Postal Coupons) and a request for return.
  9. By submitting this work to MIX, you consent to have your work considered for exhibition at the MIX Festival, free community screenings, monthly screenings and MIXtv cable access programs. Please contact us if you have any questions.
  10. A separate entry form must be filled out for each film submitted.
  11. If you are sending work from outside the USA, please indicate on the outside of the package “for festival preview only, no commercial value” or risk paying customs duties. Declare less than $20 value on the package.
  12. Specify what equipment will be used in the installation or performance, and indicate what you will supply, and what you need MIX to supply. Please keep in mind that our resources are limited, although we will do our best to accommodate you.
  13. Clearly indicate how much space your performance or installation needs, and how you envision it being installed.
  14. Artists should be perepared to install their own work, and will need to be in New York in the days immediately prior to the festival.
  15. Guest curators from out of town are required to have a local NYC-based liaison who can do grass-roots promotion and other in-person tasks.
  16. Generally MIX cannot pay fees or travel expenses, although sometimes we can obtain sponsorship for such things, and we try to help out with as much as we can.
