Murmur

Short Film

Audio samples from “Bees and their Keepers,” a campy 1980s documentary, are placed against images of the everyday. Old school rumblings on the magnificent bee colony are set to footage of uninhibited sexuality in an idyllic natural world. Certain words stick out to us in new ways: holes and crumpets, hive and colony, and lots of talk of the salacious pleasures of honey. Sex is the delicious bounty of human performance, like honey to bees. “I prefer the creamed one, it doesn’t run off my toast.”
